With a suite of proven success, our targeted surveys surpass the competition in their scope and results

Endangered, rare, and missing species are our specialty

With Earth in the midst of a sixth extinction crisis, finding and preserving our at-risk species is of the utmost importance – in both a moral and regulatory context. At BPC, we pride ourselves on going above and beyond at finding these species.

BPC staff and affiliates rediscovered marbled salamanders (Ambystoma opacum) in the state of Michigan in 2023, after 34 years, and were the first people to document a breeding population. In the decades prior, the species was presumed extirpated, and critical habitats were developed by both governmental and nongovernmental entities. Callahan & Brown 2024.
